What is a law firm? And what types of law firms are there? I am considering going to law school…but I don’t want to work in a courtroom. I want to protect people’s rights or a businesses rights. Sorry to ask such an elementary question, but I would also like to know what lawyers actually do if they work for a law firm? Thank you to whomever answers my questions.

Law firms employ all types of attorneys. Some spend their time in court while others are basically “office” lawyers doing contracts and such. Most “firms” have a certain type business they work for. You could also be an independent attorney and do the type cases you wish to.
