Free Speech? “Life’s Short, Get A Divorce”?

08 Jun

Chicago law firm put up a billboard that says, “Life’s Short, Get A Divorce.”

What do you think of the billboard? What about the attorney’s excuses to justify the billboard? Is it really about the married person’s happiness or just money?
Yeah HarryMay, there’s nothing quite as funny as divorce. What’s even more funny is the affect it has on children….

he doesn’t have to justify it becasue of free speech. If people are offended, too bad, they won’t buy his service. I can tell you one thing, though; he is getting the attention he wants

I think it’s a fine slogan. Really, people shouldn’t be so bothered by this. If you’re happy in marriage, then why should it? If you’re unhappy in marriage, maybe you should, but you’re just trying to deny it until you kill each ohter.

Very Tacky. Right up there with Match.com’s latest marketing campaign:

    Match.com
    ‘Its OK to look.’

Its about the money. What would the church say?

Life’s short, find a marital counselor and love the one you’re with.

i dont understand why people would even get insulted about that billboard. Its an ad people. Drive to Vegas or to New Jersey and those people will have a massive heart attack followed by a strock from the billboards alone.

Reminds me of a sign on a bus stop in Pontiac, MI (mostly black population). It reads, “Who’s Your Daddy?” and advertises for DNA testing.

It’s for drumming up business, especially by having a memorable advertisement.

I think that this attorney and his billboard are going to push the Illinois Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission to enact detailed rules about lawyer advertising. The billboard makes light of a very serious subject and ranks right down there with attorney jokes.

What do you think of the billboard?
It is a commentary of our current cultures treatment of relationships espescially marriage. Relationships are getting more and more fungible as time goes on.

What about the attorney’s excuses to justify the billboard?
I am pretty sure he owes no one an explanation or an excuse. He can advertise as he likes, within the bunds of the law.

Is it really about the married person’s happiness or just money? It is ALL about Money. Hey, did you happen to notice we are talking about an ATTORNEY, enough said.

Just goes to show that advertising works.

Of course it is in poor taste.

But you have to hand it to the advertising dept at the firm. They got a bunch of people on YA to talk about it.

There’s no such thing as bad press.
